Anandpur Sahib, is the revered city of bliss or joy, is one of the many towns
founded by the Sikh Gurus, situated on the left bank of the Sutlej river along
the Sirhind-Ropar-Nangal Road. When Guru Teg Bahadur founded it on a piece
of land he bought from the ruler of Kahlur (Bilaspur) state in 1665 A.D. named
Chakk Nanaki after the name of his mother. When Guru Gobind Singh returned
here after three years stay at Paonta Sahib (from 1685 A.D. to 1688). He
renamed it Anandpur Sahib. Anandpur Sahib is about 218 kms from Amritsar,
85 from Chandigarh and 332 kms from Delhi.
